The Vintage Watcher

OMG, the most collectible Rolex model is now available at WatchestoBuy.  Despite being the most powerful watch brand in the world, I don’t write too much about Rolex because most of their stuff does not speak to me.  For me, they play it too safe, not innovative, and seem concerned primarily with their own insular world.  Whatever.  But the Rolex Daytona Cosmograph is the “holy grail” to many Rolex collectors.  I knew the white dial model was highly desired, but I had never before seen a gold dial version before, but here it is in a solid 18K gold case, gorld pushers and crowns, and the gold dial.  Rolex watches are a bit of an anomoly in the watch collecting community, certain models are worth more as they age.  That kind of come-on is irresistable to collectors, so there is much speculation in purchasing and also handicapping which models will be worth more inthe future.  Anyway, the bracelet (1971) seems to be slightly younger than the case (1967) and to me appears a bit overbrushed in the links.  But this must be like crack to some Rolex collectors and is priced at $100,000 at WatchestoBuy.  I wouldn’t be qualified to evaluate this watch (claims to be all original), but I would certainly hire someone who was to check this out before I flew down to pick it up from the seller.
