About

I love watches. I love the way they look, the way they work, the stories behind them. I've had people call me a watch-a-holic. I'm constantly looking for "new" vintage watches to buy and thought I would use these pages to show the best finds of the day. But, you better act fast before I buy it out from under you!

Looking for something specific?

Beautiful old Elgin watch from the the early 1900’s.  Sales text says “World War I”  but I’d bet it was a bit later than that, certainly before the 30’s.  The porcelain, enamel dial is quite lovely and uncracked, rather hard to find without cracks or crazing.  I especially love the font of the hour numerals, and that onion crown is period perfect.  Best of all is the metal “Crystal Guard” that goes over the watch, perfectly designed to allow you to see ALL the numbers, sort of unusual for these guards.  I also like the red accents for the numbers at the hour markers. Very old movement, not sure it would really keep accurate time by our standards these days. This watch has seen some history, and I’m really sort of lusting after it.  Someone please buy it before I do, at $895, the watch seems well priced at Finer Times.
